Options program off of I-25 and Orchard might close ~ Read below
Aug 5 2008, 12:29 PM EDT
I received this e-mail about the Thursday Options school at Orchard & I25. It sounds like a wonderful enrichment program but is in danger of being canceled because of too low of enrollment. I know many of the classes are combined (this girls would be in the 3&4th grade class) and the class size is still small.Hello to all you registered and prospective Options families! My name is Sue Russell. This summer I have been training under Renee Rodriguez to be full time coordinator for the Thursday Options site at Orchard Road and I-25. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and am less than a year away from completing my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. I homeschooled my two sons from 1990 to 2006. We participated in the Options program during their 8th grade and high school years, and I taught science and geography for Options for three years. Do you find this valuable? |

Currently we have three families definitely registered. This low count may cause the Thursday site to be closed. To prevent this, I need to hear from you by Friday. Please complete the form included in the packet mailed to you. When you have this filled out, please call me. I am willing to pick up your completed form and take it to the office. My phone number is 720 951 1501. If you have not received a form, I will bring one to you and we can fill it out together. To give you the most up to date information, I am including the current calendar. We are also considering starting our assembly at 9:15 with classes ending at 3:30 because many have Wednesday night activities. We have teachers committed to teach art, science/robotics, PE, computer and math skills. This is based on having a minimum of thirty five students enrolled. The list of prospective students includes 30 students, so this goal is achievable with your help. Most of you have been told that you could register on August 14. Renee and I are sorry that this misinformation was presented and are working to correct the situation. If the Thursday site does close, I will do what I can to help you find and register for another site. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

We plan to have Registration Night on Thursday, August 14, and Back To School Night on August 28 so that we can meet and see the facilities and answer questions. Registration Day is August 14th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Registration day is for all students. You may come at any time during these hours. The registration process takes about 30 minutes to complete. This time is used to fill out and turn in any needed/missing paperwork (if applicable) and pay activity fees ($25 per family) so that we can make sure that everything is complete before school starts. New families please bring all the paperwork that was sent to you in the mail completed and signed with you along with a copy of your child/ren's birth certificate and immunization records. If you have not received a registration packet please let me know so I can get one for you before registration day. Returning students will only have to fill out the site forms that we will have there for you to sign. BTSN is from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Auditorium. We encourage you to bring your kids so that they can meet their teachers and the other kids that will be in their class to help relieve some of the first day of school jitters. One of the Options parents is helping us to set up a website with all our information. When it is ready, I will email the link to you. It will be very similar to http://orchardoptions.com/index.asp. We do need to add information on inclement weather guidelines. Please pass this email on to other homeschool families who might be interested in this program also. Sincerely, Sue Russell 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
