Mar 29 2008, 6:18 PM EDT "Records - Record Keeping Systems (I am looking for a free one? Any suggestions?)"What kind of system are you looking for? I know there are a few different notebook ideas out there, with free printable pages. And, I have seen some computer programs that do tracking, but I'm not aware of any free ones. That doesn't mean they're not out there, just that I haven't come across one lately. :-) Jen Lindner-Green 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Record Keeping?
Mar 30 2008, 12:24 AM EDT I am not quiet sure what I am looking for! lol! When I first started homeschooling Katie, I made up my own thing! I used a weekly organizer through Printmaster! If we did not finish something I would just cut it out and past it into the next day. When the week was done, we were able to print them out for our records. I thought that if there was a similar thing but all in one place where I did not have to name the weeks and save each week seperate that it might be easier! What are you using? Oh, so I am starting to plan out her 6th grade year and my son's K year! 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Record Keeping?
Mar 31 2008, 4:18 PM EDT I have a very loose system, more like a journal than anything. So, I don't know what all is out there, I just know what I've come across. It sounds like you'd like one where it 's like a spreadsheet program on the computer, and will keep records over time for you. I know I've seen programs like that, just not any free ones. I hope that someone else has an answer for you. Do you find this valuable? |

Mar 31 2008, 11:31 PM EDT I keep a homeschool journal too. It's not very organized I guess. If it ever came down to it and someone actually had to look at it I'd just highlight the different subjects (math, lang. arts, science, etc.) in different colors. Do you find this valuable? |

Apr 1 2008, 4:03 PM EDT "This site has a free, web-based planning tool.Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for! It is simple to use! Once I got the hang of it! Because hubby is off various days I am able to set our week M-S and take out the days that he is off! That makes it nice. DD, practices music every day along with other things that will always stay the same, so this also was easy to add. I can also add field trips and other outings as well as what we will need for those. Because I am creating my own things to do this was a little harder to figure out! But I just go into Create a Field Trip. This allows me to put in more information. You can also print, monthly, weekly and or daily spread sheets of the information! Thanks for sharing! I am still playing with it to see if it will really work like I thought that it would! Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Record Keeping?
Apr 1 2008, 4:12 PM EDT I hope it works out for you. I'm not good at keeping detailed records, and won't do it seriously until we get to high school level. I do my end-of-year report and save it on the computer. Time4Learning has tracking built in, so that makes the formal school stuff easier to keep track of. Do you find this valuable? |

Apr 1 2008, 4:29 PM EDT Found another option! Once I have created the course I can go into that day and add different instructions. This will also be added as a note to the student! Do you find this valuable? |

Apr 1 2008, 4:31 PM EDT We have always been unschoolers / with planning! But I wanted something that was easier to create! I think that you found it for me! If something does not get done, it automatically moves it! I like this feature. I just have to have a little planned even if we do not stick to it! Other wise I / we will just play all day! Sorta like today! lol No we have been getting minor work done. Do you find this valuable? |

Jun 20 2008, 2:20 PM EDT Another one to look at is http://www.donnayoung.org/ - she has a CD you can buy, but she has a lot of free stuff on the site, too. I will have to take a more in-depth look at the one that was listed here. It looks really interesting! Do you find this valuable? |
