Culture Quest World Tour
Feb 1 2008, 11:12 PM EST We are going to go on a world tour Culture Quest this year and would like to invite you to join us! We will be doing one Multicultural Unit per month, starting with Vietnam. You do not have to join us for every unit, just pop in when you can. I will provide all of the supplies and if possible, lunch or snack so that we can try a different Cuisine. Cost: (may vary per class?) $2.00 per child Hit Reply if you would like more information. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Culture Quest World Tour
Mar 31 2008, 5:12 PM EDT Ah! We went to Vietnam and had a dragon Parade! The kids loved it! In Brazil we made floats and had a Mardi Gras celebration, and in Peru we danced around the Yuza tree filled with goodies! During every culture Quest I provide info on stuff that you can optionally do at home, ie: map making and study of Architecture. At the group lesson we talk about what we learned at home and what we all know about the country. We then move on to listening to the National Anthem while we discuss the government and flag. I also provide printouts that the children can color while we are in the discussion. If at all possible the kids dress in the costumes that each country wears. For example when we did Vietnam the kids all wore long shirts and black pants. We also discuss the language that they speak and have that in their packets as well. We talk about the people and the main religion and what it means. In each there is a celebration, I am trying to stay with the Calendar year. Vietnam was a celebration of the new year, we did it in January! I also bring along music from each country! Last time we watched a short video. We also discuss food and currency. I have brought a dish for each country for each Culture Quest and the kids use their money to pay for the food. Do you find this valuable? |
