The Denver Zoo-
Visitors can view nearly 4,000 different animals, representing over 700 species. That means a rare look at exotic animals like amur leopards, king cobras, black rhinos, coral reef fish, elephants, zebras, vampire bats, gorillas and more. |  As America's only mountain zoo, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is uniquely suited to showcase Colorado wildlife in its natural setting. The Rocky Mountain Wild complex will draw you to the highest and most spectacular level of the Zoo where you will experience surprising, engaging and memorable encounters with Rocky Mountain wildlife, including the moose, lynx, mountain lion, grizzly bear, river otter and bald eagle. Animals will appear to roam freely on the side of Cheyenne Mountain, as the exhibit is designed to skillfully enclose the animals' natural habitat. |

Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center

Our interactive exhibits are geared primarily towards families with kids ages 2 to 12 years old, but people of all ages embrace the beauty and wonder of our tropical conservatory filled with 1,200 free-flying butterflies imported from around the globe. |

Wildlife Refuge Temporarily Closed Bus tours give an overview of history, wildlife, and environment cleanup. They have a fabulous classroom with lots of hands on activities, an art area, a puppet theater, a working inside/outside bee hive, and many interesting displays including a cave under a prairie diorama which kids can climb around in.
They have spring and summer kids fishing days, where they supply the tackle. There's hiking and a trolley and bus for tours. | |
