Volunteerism Opportunities

This page will vary throughout the year as do volunteerism opportunities! I will try and keep up the new dates.

Denver Parks and Recreation is looking for docents who will man an informational booth with general information about City Park, such as, events, planning projects, maps and directions around the park as well as information about Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Zoo. Candidates would also conduct tours of City Park and its features for the community when needed. Knowledge of city history and/or plant materials a plus but not required. Qualified candidates would be able to sit, stand or walk for up to 3 hours, be customer service oriented, enjoy interacting with people and be able to commit to at least 2 Saturdays a month. Shifts are available every Saturday between 5-31-08 and 8-30-08 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, 1200 – 2:00 pm or 2:00 -4:00 pm. Training will be provided. Junior Volunteer Club

The Junior Volunteer Club introduces young people to the benefits of volunteering in an animal shelter. Junior volunteers must be between ages 12 and 15, dependable and responsible, have good communication skills, be willing to take on a variety of tasks and have an enthusiasm for working with people and animals. Volunteers will work alongside adult volunteers for two hours each month, cleaning animal enclosures, socializing and working with dogs, cats and small mammals.They will meet the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Parents and junior volunteers must attend a mandatory meeting together on April 19, 9 a.m.-11 a.m. There is a $100 fee to join which is due at time of registration. The fee covers a one-year membership in the club.

Child & Family Volunteers

More than 150 Museum volunteers are members of a family group volunteering together, making a critical contribution to the volunteer corps. Children six through 12 are welcome to volunteer as members of a family group, with a responsible adult who participates as a volunteer. Separate applications should be submitted for each individual, including the children.

This is a great opp for older kids! My oldest is almost there!!! ;-)

The local Human Societies allow younger kids to walk dogs!
