Locks of Love

We did it! Yeah! Katie gave 11", Tabitha 10" and I gave 12" we had a librarian give us a lock of hair and our Aunt!

Everett collected $150.00

We will have a goal to grow our hair out again!___________________________________________
My daughter and I have been growing our hair out for Locks of love and would love to be able to make it more than just her and I! As of right now we have 8" of hair each and have found that hair grows and average of 1" per month. So by April / May we should have 10" of hair to donate. (Which is the minimum!!!)
If you are interested in joining us, we will be donating our hair in April / May DTBD! I also thought about hosting it at a beauty college! (This would give them more experience?!!) We are having a Hair-A-Thon to get pledges per inch or a flat donation! Katie wants to have a garage sale and all donations will go towards Locks of Love!

You do not have to grow your hair out to participate you can either
DONATE HAIR or make a FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

GUIDELINES FOR ACCEPTABLE DONATIONS

  • Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable.

  • Hair that is swept off of the floor is not usable.
  • Hair that is shaved off and not in a ponytail or braid is not usable.
  • Layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches.
  • Layered hair may be divided into multiple ponytails.
  • Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches.
  • Hair that is 6-10 inches in length will be accepted and sold at fair market value to offset the manufacturing costs.
  • Gray hair will be accepted and sold at fair market value to offset the manufacturing costs.
  • Sounds like a great opportunity and I am super excited that Katie thought of this idea!

My son wanted to grow his hair out with us too! And honestly if I would have known that it would have taken us this long I would have let him do it!

Anyway he is in charge of collecting the Donations he has $24.37 right now! He asked for donations instead of Birthday presents. His big number is $91, that is like a million for him!
If you would like to help him collect money for locks of love it is tax deductible you can send it via pay pal or mail to:
Every little bit helps!

Thank you,
Paula
