Thought that this was neat! :)
___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tree-ripe, organic Arizona citrus, delivered fresh to you! Greetings! We are a home-school family living in a mountain valley in Western Colorado. What began as a project to teach our home-educated children 'real world' business and math skills has turned into a home-based business that offers fresh, tree-ripened organic Arizona citrus for an exceptional value to those with families like ours who buy in bulk and appreciate fresh, quality fruit. We are working directly with a Certified Organic grower in Mesa, AZ who is eager to sell his fruit direct to the consumer and avoid the corporate marketing firms. We currently have Valencia Oranges available. The fruit sells for $25 per bushel box/bag, (approx. 40#) .We will be delivering our last citrus for the season the first week in June. If you are interested in ordering fruit or simply want more information you may visit our website at www.ripe2u.com The season will begin again in November with more citrus varieties available at that time. Beginning the first of July we will be offering fruit from our Valley here in Western CO. Just like Arizona citrus the fruit grown in the North Fork Valley is exceptional as it is produced in a high-desert climate and has outstanding flavor. The season begins with cherries and proceeds to peaches and nectarines, ending with pears and apples in the fall. All fruit will be organic, grower direct, and offered at bulk discount. Please sign up via the website and we put you on a list to be informed of when fruit will be available and delivered to your area. Thank you for your interest! Sincerely, the Huspen Family @ Ripe2U |

Got this in email today
Spread the word—COVA enrollment has reopened! Due to parent demand, COVA has reopened enrollment for a limited number of students for the 2008-2009 school year. We'd like you to help us spread the word to any friends or family members who might benefit from online learning. Here's what’s happening. High school enrollment Colorado students in grades 9-11 now have the opportunity to join COVA for a second-semester start in late January or early February. (Twelfth grade is full, so no new students will be accepted.) Enrollment will be available to students only while space remains, so tell your friends and family today! High school students who are accepted will access a limited catalog of second-semester course offerings. (No first-semester courses will be offered.) K-5 enrollment COVA will accept a limited number of K-5 students for an immediate start (upon approval). No grade 6-8 students will be accepted for enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year; however, students who enroll now will be part of the first enrolling students for the 2009-2010 school year. Enrollment will be open for a limited time only, so time is of the essence! Find out more If you have friends or family members who might be interested in COVA, tell them to join us for an online information session in December. We will also have a variety of in-person sessions and Town Hall meetings in January where families will have the opportunity to visit with the new COVA head of school. Be on the lookout for more info in early January! Call us at 866.339.6816 Visit us online at www.K12.com/cova Copyright © 2008 Colorado Virtual Academy and K12 Inc. All rights reserved. I would like to add my 2 cents! My kids have also been participating in this school for the past school year. Andrew has been in the Core class (0-8) and Alanna has been in the Love of Learning class (9-12). It should be noted that the ages are loosely followed as the Thomas Jefferson style is to be directed by the kids interests, especially in the younger ages.
The younger classes do work differently than the scholar age classes as there is no set curriculum. This has proven to be a challenge at times for the mentors to try and keep up with all the kids and their varying interests. It has also been a lesson to the kids at times that, because this is a group situation, they will not get to do exactly what they want exactly when they want to. A minor correction on the scholar classes that will be offered next year. For new students there will be a class following the Uncle Eric series (Whatever Happened to Penny Candy and Whatever Happened to Justice) for half the year with science the other half. There will also be a Shakespeare class offered. Although, I can't speak for the scholar kids, I can tell you that my kids have been thrilled with the experience and are looking forward to next year.

I am a distributor for Juice Plus which is, in my mind, a very practical and affordable way to supplement our diets. Traditional vitamin therapy has not proven, over time, to be as beneficial as many might have hoped. A complete diet full of fruits and vegetables, however, has been shown again and again by research to help virtually ANY health problem. Juice Plus, made of 17 different fruits and vegetables, helps us to bridge the gap in our diet between what we do eat and what we should eat (7-13 servings of fruits and vegetables per day). The product is backed by multiple *independent* research studies that definitively show that it gets into the bloodstream and is fully useable by the body. Research studies have also shown incredible benefits from Juice Plus, including increased immunity and protection of the DNA. I studied this product for over a year before I decided to offer it. Who am I? A homeschooling mom, with an MS degree and a MA in Oriental Medicine, and seven years of acupuncture and massage practice under my belt. I truly believe that we all should be taking Juice Plus. For more information, please call me at 303-525-6068, or email me at mountainmedicinenutrition@gmail.com, or consult my website: www.juiceplus.com/+jc02859. Thank you for your interest! Last call for auditions!
The Colorado Children's Chorale is currently holding auditions for boys in second through fifth grades. No previous musical training is necessary. Call 303-892-5600 or visit www.ChildrensChorale.org for more information or to schedule an audition. Auditions are held at 2420 W. 26th Ave., Ste. 350-D. This is a great opportunity (auditions were closed in June, so they must be short on boys). Boys have the opportunity to really move up in this organization and, if they stick with it, have a chance to make Tour Choir, which travels internationally! My daughter participates in this organization, and I can highly recommend it. |

Calling all high-school-aged homeschoolers! A *great* opportunity is coming up! The Colorado YMCA Youth in Government will be held in November (with training dates in October--please email me for fliers at jenran55@msn.com). This programs allows students from all over the state to assemble in the Colorado State Capitol Building to form a mock legislature. Participants can sponsor resolutions and bills, and each will assume an actual role (ranging from Page to President of the Senate) in the legislature. Each participant will experience, first hand, how legislation is produced, presented, and debated (sometimes very hotly!). This program is a very realistic way to experience government in action as, like in the real thing, participants come from all perspectives and walks of life. It is fun, exciting, and extremely informative. Students are urged to attend one of the training dates (and can do so just to check out the program) before the Prelegislative Convention on Oct. 25 and the General Assembly (starting the evening of Nov. 19 and running through the 21st). Cost is $70 per student, and is money very well spent. I attended this program twice while in high school, and it is one of the most beneficial and memorable things I did during those years. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or to check out the Youth in Government website:
www.coloradoyig.org I think adding homeschool perspectives to the legislative action in Youth in Government will make it a more beneficial experience for all. Jennifer Corbet 303-526-0791

I received this e-mail about the Thursday Options school at Orchard & I25. It sounds like a wonderful enrichment program but is in danger of being canceled because of too low of enrollment. I know many of the classes are combined (this girls would be in the 3&4th grade class) and the class size is still small.
Hello to all you registered and prospective Options families! My name is Sue Russell. This summer I have been training under Renee Rodriguez to be full time coordinator for the Thursday Options site at Orchard Road and I-25. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and am less than a year away from completing my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. I homeschooled my two sons from 1990 to 2006. We participated in the Options program during their 8th grade and high school years, and I taught science and geography for Options for three years.

Hello, My name is Katie Anderson and I am the founder of ReadingWrite. ReadingWrite provides one-on-one reading instruction for students struggling with reading. Instruction is based off of the Orton-Gillingham methodology, which is the only system proven through science to be successful for remediation of reading, writing and spelling in people with dylexia. This system is multi-sensory, structured, explicit, and systematic. ReadingWrite works specifically with students who are dyslexic although all struggling readers are welcome!
